Goughs bolsters commercial and residential property departments

Law firm Goughs has bolstered its commercial and residential property departments with new appointments, including the arrival of a new head of commercial property.

Gemma Millard has joined Goughs as the new head of commercial property and will be based at the Greenways, Chippenham office.

Gemma deals with all aspects of commercial property and will be responsible for further growing the team from the strong foundations that have been built by the existing team. Gemma will be working closely with Helen Gate, who has recently joined the firm as an associate in the commercial property department.

Helen brings a wealth of commercial leasehold experience with the added advantage of having worked in-house and now in private practice.

The commercial property team at Goughs advises individuals and companies both locally and nationwide on commercial property issues ranging from freehold sales and acquisitions, property finance to landlord and tenant matters and business-related transactions.

They advise on a diverse range of business types and in sectors including leisure, tourism, retail, food and drink and professional services. Gemma said: “I am beyond excited to be joining a firm with such a well-established and pertinent presence in the local area, which is continuing to grow.”

“I have been very impressed at the organisation, structure and client care that both the team and firm have to offer. I am looking forward to working with Helen and the team, and helping to further expand the reach of the commercial property team across the South West.”

Goughs also has had a further two recruits to strengthen its growing residential property department.

Samantha Elliot has joined as an associate solicitor in our Trowbridge office. Samantha specialises in all residential property matters including sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold, various deeds and agreement drafting, remortgages, auction sales and purchases.

Jessica Kissell has joined as a residential property paralegal in the firm’s Devizes office. She now works alongside Harriet Pestille has recently qualified as a solicitor into the team. Lesley Warren, head of the residential property team, said: “We are delighted to welcome Samantha and Jessica to Goughs.

“Their knowledge combined with Jessica’s enthusiasm and appetite to learn will only strengthen our team as we move forward with plans to grow further in 2024 and beyond.” Victoria Nash, HR Director, said: “The incredible work of our property team is reflected in our recruitment. Simply put, the amount of work that the team continues to generate has led to the department’s expansion.”
