Goughs Solicitors holds Legal 500 rankings
Goughs Solicitors has retained three Legal 500 UK 2027 rankings across Commercial Property, Family and Private Client, with partner Ross Phillips singled out as a Leading Partner in family law.
The Wiltshire firm kept its Tier 2 position for Commercial Property, while its Family team remained at Tier 3 and its Personal Tax, Trusts & Probate practice held Tier 4.
The results, based on independent research and client feedback, were described by Goughs as reflecting “the continued strength and expertise” of its specialist teams and its commitment to high‑quality, personal service across the region.
In Commercial Property, the directory praised the team’s “very skilled and proactive lawyers”, “attention to detail and value for money” and reputation for being “helpful, knowledgeable and respected on the other side”. The practice advises businesses, investors, developers, landlords and tenants on acquisitions and disposals, leases, development land, landlord and tenant matters and refinancing.
Its standing was bolstered this year by the arrival of Neill Pemberton, head of Corporate & Commercial Property, who is recognised for handling high‑value, complex transactions and driving operational excellence.
Pemberton said retaining Tier 2 was “fantastic” and reflected both the strength of the team and the confidence clients place in it.
In Family, Legal 500 highlighted Natalie Kemp as “extremely experienced and dedicated to securing the best outcomes for her clients” and described Matthew Drew as “pragmatic but equally robust”, while noting the team’s “excellent local knowledge” and “solution‑focused” approach.
Thomas Boyce, head of the Family team, said the continued Tier 3 ranking and positive client feedback showed the “quality and consistency” of the advice on offer, adding that family law requires “empathy, clarity and a genuinely personal approach” alongside technical expertise.
The Private Client team, which handles wills, estate planning, probate and estate administration, trusts and personal tax for individuals and families, retained its Tier 4 ranking.
Phillip Bolton, head of Private Client, said the recognition was a “real testament” to the team’s expertise and the trust families place in it to provide clear, personal advice on deeply important matters.
Founded in 1882, Goughs now operates seven offices across Wiltshire with more than 100 staff, advising both individuals and businesses on divorce and children matters, employment law, wills, trusts and probate, commercial and residential property, real estate and corporate work.
