Wiltshire firms make the grade in Best Places to Work list
Companies from Swindon and Wiltshire have been celebrating their places in the Best Places to Work list, compiled by the Sunday Times.
The list is the UK’s benchmark for excellence in organisational culture and employee experience, celebrating companies that deliver high levels of engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion.
Law firm Awdry Law was among the companies selected by the newspaper for inclusion. The firm employs over 150 people across a wide range of legal and central services roles.
The firm – which has offices in Bath, Chippenham, Devizes, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett and Swindon – has long placed a strong emphasis on fostering a workplace culture that prioritises collaboration, wellbeing and professional development, with clear progression opportunities, structured training programmes and a wide range of initiatives designed to support its people at every stage of their careers.
Alongside its focus on professional growth, Awdry Law offers a vibrant and inclusive culture, supported by regular social events, an active Sustainable Development Group, a Thriving at Work team and a variety of opportunities for colleagues to engage in volunteering and community initiatives across the region it serves.
Managing partner Alexander David said: “This has been years in the making, and I am absolutely delighted. We made a conscious decision some time ago to take the long road in striving to be a great place to work, as well as being a progressive law firm; it appears that being the former is a very good way of achieving the latter.
“What makes Awdry Law special is our people. They define the business, shaping the culture, the environment and the feeling you get from being part of the firm.
“I am incredibly proud to work alongside them. We are not the finished article, and we never will be, but we will always have the drive to improve while holding on to the culture we have built together.”
Fellow law firm Goughs Solicitors (pictured) was also named in the guide.
With more than 130 team members across seven offices in Calne, Chippenham, Corsham, Devizes, Melksham, and Trowbridge, Goughs Solicitors “continues to place people at the heart of the business, creating a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive environment where colleagues are encouraged to develop, succeed, and thrive.”
Managing partner Matthew Drew said: “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition from The Sunday Times for the third consecutive year. To be acknowledged consistently in this way is a real reflection of the firm’s culture and the values that guide us.
“As our people are at the centre of everything we do, we strive to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential, both professionally and personally.
“This award is a testament to the dedication, positivity, and teamwork demonstrated by every member of the Goughs team.”
In Royal Wootton Bassett, medical supplies firm Joint Operations was recognised as the Best Medium Sized Company to work for in the Health and Social Care Industry.
Beckie Holmes, head of people and culture at the 68-employee firm, said “Our teams have always been at the heart of Joint Operations and maintaining a positive and inspiring culture as we have grown has remained a key focus.
“Achieving platinum status with Investors in People in late 2025 was a real milestone and now seeing Joint Operations feature in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list is the icing on the cake.
“Most importantly though, this recognition belongs to every member of Joint Operations. The culture we have created together demonstrates our shared values and shows our commitment to supporting one another.”
And Devizes-based Mole Digital, which specialises in healthcare communications, has 16 employees who work 4.5 days a week on full-time pay and can work flexibly.
MD Tim Ashton said: “Awards for our work always mean a lot to us, but this one is particularly special.
“At Mole we’re working hard to build a business where people can do brilliant work, feel developed and inspired, and also feel genuinely trusted, supported and cared for. That kind of culture is built slowly, in hundreds of small everyday moments, by every one of the Mole team – so this recognition really belongs to them.
“There’s so much more we want to do – but it’s wonderful to know that it is possible to do exceptional work and create an exceptional workplace. Huge thanks to all the Moles for everything they do, every day, to make Mole such a wonderful place to work.”
