Turnover down, operating profits up at Excalibur Communications

Turnover is down but operating profits are up at Swindon-based communications and IT solutions provider Excalibur Communications according to end-of-year figures published today (Tuesday).

The group, which employs 60 people, posted a turnover of £8.7 million – down six per cent on last year, which the company said was due to reduced mobile revenues as the pandemic curtailed international business travel.

Operating profit, however, was up 15 per cent of 2019/20.

Excalibur’s IT and fixed line business performed consistently with a minimal two per cent drop in revenue to £4.3 million.

The growth in supporting customers in their move to ‘work from home’ during the pandemic, has largely offset reduced income from coronavirus delayed, larger IT projects.

The mobile side of the business saw a reduction in revenues by 10 per cent, from £4.9million in 2019/20 to £4.4million this year. This is mainly driven by a reduction in international travel as a result of the pandemic.

CEO Peter Boucher said: “We have had a good year at Excalibur despite all the challenges that covid has presented to business and all of us as individuals.

“The team here has been flexible and worked hard to support customers and each other.

“Our continued focus on customer and employee engagement has proved to be the right one.

“It has not only resulted in us being accredited as a Top 100 UK Best Small Company to Work For, but winning some great new business.”
