Albert Goodman advises shareholders on construction firm sale

South West accountancy firm Albert Goodman has advised the shareholders of DNH Construction Ltd on the successful sale of the business to Astra Group.

Founded in 1987, DNH Construction has established itself as a leading insurance reinstatement contractor, delivering fire, flood, storm and subsidence repair works across the South West.

The acquisition by Astra Group marks its first investment in the insurance repair sector and represents an exciting new chapter for the Plymouth-based business.

Albert Goodman’s corporate finance team worked closely with shareholders throughout the transaction, supporting them on valuation, exit planning and the eventual sale process.

The firm also worked alongside legal advisers Kitsons Boyce to help bring the transaction to a successful conclusion.

Albert Goodman corporate finance partner Neil Hutchings said: “We are delighted to have advised throughout this transaction, working closely with Simon, David and Dawn to realise the value they have created in their business.

“Being entrusted with the marketing and sale and securing a number of strong offers was extremely rewarding.

“We are also very pleased to see DNH Construction Ltd transferred to an ambitious acquirer, helping to ensure the business’ ongoing legacy and important position in the local community.

“This transaction represents another successful completion for the Albert Goodman Corporate Finance team and further strengthens our position as one of the leading M&A advisers to OMBs and SMEs in the South West.”

Simon Holmes, shareholder and director of DNH Construction Ltd, added: “Selling a family business that has been operating for almost 40 years was one of the most important decisions we have ever made.

“Albert Goodman took the time to understand both our business and personal objectives, guiding us through a complex process with professionalism, expertise and integrity throughout.

“The successful sale represents a fantastic outcome for all involved and we are extremely grateful to Neil and the wider Albert Goodman team for the role they played in achieving it.”

The transaction adds to Albert Goodman’s growing track record of advising owner-managed businesses across the South West on strategic acquisitions, disposals and succession planning, helping shareholders maximise value while securing the right long-term future for their businesses.
