National Self Build and Renovation Centre

The UK’s only permanent venue for independent homebuilding advice & support

Established in 2007, and owned by its employees since 2014, the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) has helped almost a quarter of a million visitors build their own dream home or extend and improve their existing property.

NSBRC is home to over 200 permanent exhibitors, covering every aspect of a building project, from foundations to flooring, walls to windows, roofing to renewables and much more.

The centre is open six days a week with a packed timetable of events, including shows (such as their big annual event), courses, workshops and online surgeries.

Easy to get to, NSBRC is located on Junction 16 of the M4 with parking plentiful and free.

Inside are several full-size houses, interactive educational zones – incorporating many life-size exhibits – and a huge trade village with more than 200 specialist exhibitors to inspire both domestic and commercial construction and renovation.

With eight meeting rooms hosting one to 240 people and fitted with the latest IT and AV equipment, the centre’s experienced conferencing team can set up rooms and catering to suit your requirements.

The rooms

The Build It Theatre accommodates 240 delegates, with stage, LCD screen and projector, PA system, lighting and air con.

The Sustainability Theatre is an open air space in the ground floor of the visitor centre, great for networking events and breakfast meetings, with stage, PA, projector and screen.

The Piazza is another open, flexible space with the backdrop of Potton House, one of the centre’s demonstration houses.

On the first floor, the Custom Build Suite hosts 60 delegates with a foyer for refreshments.

The Dale House, the Renovation Suite and the Self-Build Suite are rooms for smaller meetings. And the latest addition, the Think Box, is a calming, creative space for one-on-one discussions.

Key moments

In 2017, NSBRC were named Wiltshire’s Small Business of the Year and in the same year, they won the Build It award for Outstanding Contribution to Self Build. To complete a hat trick of gongs they were highly commended by the Employee Ownership Association in their Rising Star of the Year category.

In 2022, they celebrated 15 years of the National Self Build & Renovation Centre and hosted an array of special online events – covering key topics for those looking to undertake a self build or renovation project.

In 2024, they hosted a special dinner to celebrate 10 years of employee ownership, making full use of the centre’s space and stunning backdrop of full-sized show houses, with over a hundred guests in attendance.
