Duke presents Triodos with King’s Award

The Duke of Gloucester has visited the UK headquarters of ethical bank Triodos to present the firm with The King’s Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development.

The award was bestowed earlier this year as the bank celebrated its 30th anniversary.

It is the fourth time the bank has received the prestigious award for enterprise – attaining The Queen’s Award in 2004, 2010 and 2020, and now the King’s Award in 2025.

Triodos is the only UK bank to have achieved the accolade in this category so many times.

The Duke was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City and County of Bristol, Peaches Golding.

He also met Mark Clayton, CEO of Triodos Bank UK, and Triodos staff from different areas of the business.

HRH was given an overview of how the bank has pioneered sustainable practices in the products and services that it offers.

The office on Deanery Road in central Bristol reflects the ethos of Triodos and meets the same rigorous sustainability standards the bank looks for in the organisations it finances.

“We are immensely proud of our King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development,” said Mark.

“This year we have seen many organisations scale back on sustainability commitments; however we were delighted to be recognised for continuing to champion ethical banking and the important role of finance in supporting projects that benefit both people and the planet.”

Since last winning in 2020, Triodos Bank UK has gone on to deliver even more positive impact through its work; including an award-winning £20 million loan to Exeter-based Oxygen Conservation, backing the South West’s largest new woodland in decades with lending to the charity Avon Needs Trees and finance to Gympanzees, a Bristol-based charity building state-of-the-art leisure centre for disabled children and young people at their site near Aust in South Gloucestershire.
