Three Wiltshire businesses win King’s Award for Enterprise
Three businesses from Wiltshire have been recognised in the prestigious King’s Awards for Enterprise.
Nationally, 197 businesses representing a diverse range of sectors, have been recognised by The King as among the best in the country, highlighting the ambition, ingenuity, and success of the UK’s diverse business community.
Awards are made in the categories of International Trade, Innovation, and Sustainable Development. All three Wiltshire recipients were chosen for their success in exporting their goods.
Founded in 2010 and employing 42 people, Leafield Environmental designs and manufactures premium plastic recycling and litter bins, agricultural products, materials handling products, and highway street furniture.
Export sales account for around a half of the company’s revenue. Other clients include local councils, schools and colleges, and businesses.
Managing director Philip Maddox (pictured) said: “We are delighted to have achieved a King’s Award for Enterprise.
“Leafield Environmental’s products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality by dedicated teams at our factory in Corsham and sold to the world – all through the hard work of people who live locally and have worked at the company for many years.
“It’s especially exciting to be recognised for our excellence in international trade.
“Despite a challenging manufacturing landscape, Leafield’s overseas sales have grown by 63 per cent over three years and now make up almost half of our total sales.
“I look forward to the opportunities the King’s Award will offer in expanding the reach of our quality, sustainable products to markets across the globe.”
The Tracklement Company manufactures a range of over 50 handmade mustards, condiments and relishes from its base near Malmesbury.
Its products are available in 18 countries. Established in 1970 by William Tullberg, who experimented with making wholegrain mustard from a 17th century recipe, the company is now run by his son Guy.
“This award underlines our determination to grow our international business, collaborating with our phenomenal international partners and customers and our commitment to making Tracklements internationally recognised as the producer and champion of premium, British, artisan condiments,” he said.
Based in Royal Wootton Bassett, Clarendon Specialty Fasteners manufactures and supplies specialty fasteners to the aerospace, motorsport, defence, and space sectors.
The company exports to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America.
Managing director Paul Sanders said: “It is again a testament to the unwavering commitment, resilience, and brilliance of an extraordinary team of individuals. This is the second time that we have been awarded this honour and is highly regarded as the most coveted commercial award in business achievement that issued by King Charles III himself.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise were previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise and were renamed two years ago to reflect The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II by recognising outstanding UK businesses.
The programme, now in its 59th year, has awarded over 8,000 companies since its inception in 1965.
His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenants – The King’s representatives in each county – will be presenting the awards to businesses locally throughout the year. One representative from each winning business will also be invited to a special Royal reception event.
