Wansbroughs bolsters family law offering with two key appointments

Wiltshire law firm Wansbroughs has appointed Kate Scammell as partner and team leader of the firm’s new family and divorce team.

With a distinguished career, spanning more than 20 years, Kate brings a wealth of experience in family law, including in cases involving complex financial settlements arising out of divorce.

Kate is a collaborative lawyer and member of Resolution and strives to resolve matters quickly and pragmatically, allowing clients to move forward with their lives after separation. She is used to dealing with cases involving complex asset structures, large pensions, assets held abroad and business assets.

In addition to Kate, the firm also welcomes solicitor Hannah McMullen to the team who joins Wansbroughs from a UK Top 150 law firm.

Hannah, who qualified in 2023, has developed her skills rapidly, gaining valuable expertise across a range of family law matters.

She is also a member of Resolution, reflecting her focus on constructive and collaborative approaches to family disputes.

Wansbroughs will now have two distinct specialist departments: Family and Divorce, led by Kate Scammell, and Children, led by Naomi Owen.

The strategic development is designed to meet the increasing needs of clients requiring comprehensive legal guidance in family law. The two teams will work in close collaboration to provide clients with a seamless and fully integrated service that addresses the legal, emotional and practical aspects of family breakdowns and children matters holistically.

Anna Wensley Stock, co-managing partner said: “Kate and Hannah are outstanding additions to Wansbroughs.

“This marks a significant step forward in Wansbroughs’ family law offering. We are confident that Kate’s experience and fresh perspective will have a powerful and positive impact as she leads Wansbroughs’ new family and divorce team.”

Kate Scammell said: “I’ve been made to feel incredibly welcome by everyone at Wansbroughs and I’m delighted to join the firm during this exciting period of growth and strategic focus.

“The team has built a strong reputation for delivering outstanding client care and I look forward to building on that success as we continue to grow and evolve.”
