Green Machine Computers
Green Machine Computers recycles electronics securely and responsibly, whatever the business type or size and amount.
Tech is collected, data safely deleted, recycled or refurbished, then donated or sold at affordable prices.
Once electronics are wiped and processed, you will receive a detailed audit inventory of your items and a secure data destruction certificate.
Green Machine also offers comprehensive IT support to businesses in the area, overseeing the daily health of devices and performing necessary upgrades to increase their performance.

“As the Head of Sales and Marketing for Green Machine Computers, I spend most of my time promoting the business using a variety of digital platforms. This allows me to work closely with our customers and help them understand the benefits of our services. One of my main passions is sustainability, and I take great pride in explaining the environmental benefits of IT recycling to our clients. You can often find me at networking events and business exhibitions, where I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their businesses.” Natalie King-Barnard

Green Machine History
Green Machine’s founder, Simon Crisp, started the business in 2011 after redundancy from IBM.
After his work laptop had been returned, Simon faced a job hunt without a computer.
This was his first experience with digital poverty. And if tech-savvy Simon was struggling to get by without a device, there had to be many more experiencing the same problem.
Simon remembered a hoard of unused technology, still serviceable, at his previous place of work. Refurbishing unwanted but useable tech and passing it on could be the solution for people like him, Simon thought, and saved precious components and minerals such as gold and colbalt from going to waste.
And so Green Machine Computers was born and Simon had found himself a living.
Simon began to ‘keep it green’ with free collections from schools around Wiltshire.
The GMC team has grown significantly since then, collecting from businesses small and large, but the goal has remained the same: stop tech going to landfill, protect the environment, and help people.
Notable moments
- A Blue Peter badge award for Green Machine’s commitment to ending digital poverty.
- Future Tech Superstar at the Wiltshire Techies awarded to a Green Machine apprentice.
- The collection and processing of 250 pallets of electronic waste from WHSmiths, the biggest yet.
- Apprentices passing their level 4 IT Infrastructure.
- Donation of many laptops to Ukrainian kids rehoused in Marlborough, through their CIC, Tech Hub.
“One of our greatest achievements so far was during the 2020/21 Coronavirus pandemic. Instead of furloughing our staff, we created a production line of laptops to be collected, refurbished then donated to kids in our local area. In total, we donated 600 laptops to school children so that they could study from home. It took a lot of hard work and gruelling hours, but our team persevered and helped hundreds of people during a difficult time.”
