Accountancy firm smashes target, raising over £60,000 for local charities
A Wiltshire accountancy firm has smashed through its fundraising target to make £62,500 for charities in 2024, as it celebrated 10 years in business.
Staff at Gooding Accounts, which has branches in Westbury, Warminster and Melksham, took part in an array of fundraising events. These included:
- Summer of Ultras – five Ultra Marathons in five months completed by partner Sam Gooding and CFO Sherelyn Cowles for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice
- A team of 12 tackled Snowdon in complete darkness for the sunrise, raising funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance
- A team Skydive for Dorothy House Hospice
- Two runners took part in the Bath Half for cancer charities
- Four of the team took on six months sober to raise funds for Wessex MS Therapy Centre, a small charity less than a mile for the firm’s Warminster office
Alongside the personal charities, the firm organised a full programme of charity events, supported by volunteers from the team. Highlights included:
- A Grand Summer Party raising £12,000 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance
- An inaugural Golf Day raising £5,000 for Dorothy House Hospice – 2025’s event is already booked for Friday 4th July
- A Sportsmans Dinner
- A Charity Auction – raising more than £7,000 for local cancer charity We Hear You
The charities supported by the firm’s fundraising efforts included Wessex MS Therapy Centre, Cancer Research UK, Made a Mark, Macmillan Cancer Support, Wiltshire Mind, Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, Dorothy House Hospice Care, The Helen Straker Charity, We Hear You (WHY), MNDA – South & West Somerset Branch, MD (Muscular Dystrophy) UK South West, Archie Matthews Trust.
Gooding Accounts founder and partner Sam Gooding said: “It’s been a fantastic year of fundraising and I’m incredibly proud of the entire team.
“When we set ourselves the challenge to raise £50,000 we knew it would take a huge amount of effort – but I’m delighted that we’ve managed to go so far beyond the target and donate such a huge amount to many charities who support our community.”
