Bristol Local Food Fund to distribute £110K raised by Anti Banquet
Bristol Local Food Fund is inviting local charities to apply for a share of £110,000 raised by February’s Anti Banquet, which saw business leaders cook for, and wait on, their staff.
The inaugural event broke its £100,000 target by selling tables at the event to Bristol businesses.
Staff who would not normally be invited to snazzy events got to enjoy food prepared by some of the city’s best chefs – ably assisted by company bosses – alongside comedy and music.
The Bristol Local Food Fund will now distribute the money raised by the event to local charities, prioritising groups working with people and areas most affected by food insecurity.
Michael Lloyd-Jones, BLFF, said: “We are still overwhelmed by the amount of money raised by the Anti Banquet, and the additional support from individuals and businesses that BLFF has received. Food insecurity throughout Bristol is so prevalent, so we hope to continue these funding rounds with larger amounts every year, supporting community food projects across our city to make a huge difference to those suffering the most.”
Following the success of the event at Ashton Gate, a second Anti Banquet is planned.
