Wake The Tiger appoints Grundon as waste management partner

An interactive art experience in central Bristol has chosen Grundon to be its waste management partner as it continues its journey towards B-Corp status.

Wake The Tiger is based in Albert Road, St Philips and was set up in July 2022 by the owners of the Boomtown Festival – a dance music event that takes place in Hampshire each summer.

Since opening, Wake The Tiger has welcomed more than 300,000 visitors to enjoy its heady mix of immersive rooms, corridors, displays and features.

The organisation is in the process of applying for B-Corp status – an internationally recognised gold standard certification for businesses making a positive impact on their various stakeholders.

“We’re delighted to support Wake The Tiger with their waste management as they progress towards achieving B-Corp status,” said Nick Malvern, Grundon sales manager in Bristol.

“We know that it’s a rigorous and time-consuming process to achieve it, and that once attained it requires constant monitoring and improvement to maintain.

“So from a waste management perspective, Wake The Tiger will need a partner who can provide detailed and meticulous data on the processing of the variety of waste streams that it produces.

“That’s something we pride ourselves on and we’re only too happy to help.

Ruth Collins, general manager of Wake The Tiger, said: “We’re a very creative organisation but for that artistry to work we need a well-organised and orderly basis to operate from.

“So it’s great to be working with a waste management partner which prides itself on the impact its services have on a client’s operations, and who can be a partner in our journey towards this prestigious B-Corp status.

“It’s early days but we’ve already been impressed with Grundon’s speedy ability to answer questions about sustainability policies and waste carrier licences, as well as their confidence in properly dealing with specialist waste streams.

“We’re looking forward to services which are focused on data and performance and the personal service which we get, given Grundon is based just around the corner from us.”

Grundon has been established in Bristol since 2020, during which time the company has set up several key sustainability initiatives, including launching a £300k electric collection vehicle onto the city’s streets last summer.

Across the south of England it manages waste streams at a catalogue of major events and sporting occasions, including Royal Ascot and the British Grand Prix, as well as sporting clubs such as Forest Green Rovers and Gloucestershire Cricket Club.
