Thrings partner recognised as one of Europe’s most influential Muslims
A partner at the Bristol office of law firm Thrings has been featured in a list of the 50 most influential Muslims in Europe.
Salma Maqsood, who is part of Thrings’ development of land tea, has been included in the Top 50 Most Influential Muslims in Europe list produced by EqualityX, adding to her already impressive reputation within the legal sector.
Having joined Thrings earlier this year, Salma is already a recognised figure in the region’s legal sector, serving both as junior vice president for the Bristol Law Society and as a social mobility ambassador for The Law Society, mentoring aspiring solicitors and students from all backgrounds.
This work to support future generations of lawyers also coincides with her role as a founding board member of the Ethnic Solicitors South West Network.
EqualityX was established to celebrate outstanding Muslim talent and champion the achievements of inclusive Muslim employers, with their Influential lists recognising professionals leading and shaping debates across a range of fields.
The Top 50 list recognises and celebrates the achievements of Muslim professionals whose work has brought distinction to and enhanced the reputation of Muslims and their communities.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been considered by EqualityX for this year’s list and am honoured to be recognised as an influential advocate for my faith within the professional world,” said Salma.
“Growing up there were no visible role models I could identify with. I didn’t see or know of any Hijabi lawyers and at many points I felt this would be a barrier to making it in law.
“By having achieved what I have, I hope I can be the role model for the next generation that I would have been inspired by.”
