Thrings continues positive growth in Chambers rankings

Law firm Thrings has expanded its prominent position in the prestigious Chambers and Partners legal directory with its teams and individual lawyers securing more than 30 rankings in the 2026 edition – including five new positions and six in the top band.

The listings in Chambers and Partners – which come shortly after Thrings’ featured prominently in the 2026 edition of the Legal 500 – are recognised as a leading source of legal market intelligence for more than 30 years and draw on research and feedback from clients to rank departments and individuals from firms across the world.

The firm’s agriculture team continues to dominate the directory, with both its teams in the South West and the South securing the top Band 1 ranking. This is supported by partners Russell Reeves, Robert James and Mark Charter also individually claiming spots in Band 1.

Fellow partners Duncan Sigournay and Neil Barbour retain their Band 2 rankings, with legal director Polly Ridgway also moving into the Up and Coming category within her first six months at the firm.

Both of Thrings’ corporate teams in the South West and the Thames Valley have kept their Band 2 rankings, with three of the department’s leading partners also keeping their rankings – John Davies in Band 1 and both Simon Hore and Elaine Meyrick in Band 3.

The firm’s other business-focused departments also retain their places in the rankings, with commercial litigation and intellectual property both in Band 3 for the South West and employment in Band 4.

This is backed by individual rankings for several partners with Mark Cullingford (insolvency) and Megan Jefferies (intellectual property) in Band 2 and Kerrie Hunt (employment) and Alastair Govier (commercial litigation) in Band 3.

Thrings’ Family law department also continue their growing presence in the directories, with the Romsey based team moving up to Band 3 in The South and the South West team retaining their Band 4 ranking.

Three partners in the team are also ranked this year with Sally Pike retaining her Band 1 placing and both Kate Barber and new entrant Tara Connor-McLaren listed as Up and Coming.

They are also joined by senior associate Zhenja Cann, who is also a first-timer in the rankings as “Associate to Watch”.

The firm’s planning and environment team secure a Band 4 team ranking and two Parter rankings with Ros Trotman in at Band 3 and Fred Quartermain joining the directory as Up and Coming.

The real sstate team retains a strong contingent of rankings this year, in at Band 4, with its Bristol office lead Robert Barnes also Band 4. The firm’s head of construction Natalia Sokolov meanwhile maintains her Band 3 ranking.

Property litigation is a new ranking for Thrings this year with the team coming in at Band 4, marking their continued growth as a department, following the arrival and promotion of several new members over the past two years.
