Thrings lawyer named among UK’s most impactful environmental professionals
A Bristol lawyer has been named as one of the country’s leading environmental lawyers in the prestigious ENDS Power List.
Harvey Davies, who is head of natural capital at law firm Thrings, provides clients with commercially practical advice on the emerging markets for natural capital – including biodiversity net gain, nutrient neutrality and carbon – supporting them in the delivery of innovative and profitable long-term solutions for improving the environment that work on the ground.
It is the first time Harvey has been included in the Power List, which names the 100 UK environmental professionals who have made the greatest impact over the past two years, as nominated by their colleagues, clients and competitors.
The 2026 instalment of the list champions leading individuals from across the full breadth of the sector – from academics to activists, consultants, and professionals from both the private and public sectors – with recognition a signal of being among those shaping environmental progress in the UK.
For Harvey, who is based the firm’s Ross-on-Wye and Bristol offices, the recognition reflects the rapid growth and influence of Thrings’ Natural Capital practice and his drawing on first-hand farming experience, balancing his legal work with managing the family farm in Herefordshire.
In bringing together landowners, developers, regulators and operators to implement innovative schemes that are unlocking development across the country, Harvey has been steadfast on ensuring those delivering positive change ‘on the ground’ are reap the commercial rewards.
More recently his practice has grown beyond the core compliance markets of BNG and nutrient neutrality and he is now regularly advising on projects aiming at voluntary markets such as woodland and soil carbon.
The service also now assists novel privately financed agri-environment and supply-chain schemes where farmer-driven environmental gains are secured by vital new green income streams and investment from global brands to deliver their ESG commitments.
Harvey said: “It’s an honour to be named in this year’s ENDS Power List 100, particularly among such an influential group of individuals helping to shape the future of environmental policy, sustainable agriculture and natural capital in the UK.
“This recognition reflects the growing importance of natural capital considerations across the land use sector, and the increasing demand for clear, commercially focused advice in this rapidly evolving area.
“At Thrings, we are committed to helping our clients navigate the opportunities and challenges arising from environmental change and emerging natural capital markets. I’m proud to be part of a team supporting businesses and landowners as sustainability continues to move higher up the agenda.”
