Goughs strengthens commercial and corporate teams
Law firm Goughs Solicitors has strengthened its commercial and corporate offering with two key appointments, appointing Neill Pemberton as partner and head of commercial property and Rukshan Attapattu as associate in the corporate & commercial department.
Joining the firm’s Greenways, Chippenham office, Neill brings extensive experience across a wide range of property types and sectors, from short-term lettings to large-scale telecoms, energy, and regeneration projects. His particular specialisms include property investment and property finance.
With a strong reputation as a trusted adviser, innovative strategist, and leader in legal technology, Neill is recognised for delivering high-value, complex transactions and driving operational excellence.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Goughs at such an exciting time of growth,” said Neill.
“The firm has an excellent reputation and a talented team, and I look forward to helping strengthen and expand our commercial property offering while continuing to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions.”
The commercial property team at Goughs advises individuals and companies locally and nationally on all aspects of commercial property law, including freehold sales and acquisitions, property finance, landlord and tenant matters, and business-related transactions.
“The team works with clients across diverse sectors, such as leisure, tourism, retail, food and drink, and professional services.
Also joining the Greenways office, Rukshan Attapattu brings more than 10 years’ experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, commercial law, employment law, and property law.
Rukshan began his legal career and training in Sri Lanka, where he developed a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law before continuing his practice in the UAE and the UK.
This international perspective enhances his ability to provide commercially sound, pragmatic advice to clients across a range of industries.
“I’ve always been drawn to the problem-solving side of law,” said Rukshan.
“Sometimes it’s about fixing an issue, and other times it’s about preventing one before it even starts. That mindset shapes how I work and how I live.
“With clients, I keep things simple: be available, be reliable, and be genuine. I value clear communication and lasting professional relationships built on trust.”
The corporate & commercial team at Goughs advises businesses of all sizes — from start-ups and owner-managed enterprises to large corporations — on a full range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, shareholder and partnership agreements, commercial contracts, corporate restructuring, and employment issues.
Victoria Nash, HR Director at Goughs, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Neill and Rukshan to the firm.
“Their experience, professionalism, and client-focused approach perfectly align with our values.
“These appointments, alongside a recent wave of internal promotions, demonstrate our continued commitment to developing our people and strengthening our services across all areas of the business.”
