Four new solicitors join law firm

Wiltshire law firm Goughs Solicitors has appointed four new trainee solicitors as part of its continued investment in early-career legal talent.

Alice Gane, Alice Robinson, Jess Pope and Mia Griffiths began their training contracts with the firm in September, bringing academic and professional experience to Goughs’ offices across the county.

Alice Gane studied law at the University of Exeter and joined Goughs after completing a vacation scheme with the firm in summer 2025. Based at the Greenways office, she has started her training in commercial property.

“I’m really excited to be starting my training contract with Goughs and to have the opportunity to learn from such experienced lawyers,” she said.

“Goughs stood out to me because of its strong reputation as well as its welcoming and sociable environment. I’m looking forward to developing my skills and seeing where the next two years take me.”

Alice Robinson studied for her law degree with the Open University while working as a legal assistant at Goughs. She gained experience across the corporate and commercial, commercial property and employment teams before beginning her training in the family department at Melksham.

“I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving, which is one of the things that attracted me to law,” she said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Family team in Melksham, building on the experience I already have, and learning from the people around me.”

Jess studied law at the University of Bristol and is based at Goughs’ Calne office, also in the family department. She said the firm’s local connections and breadth of work had attracted her to the role.

“I knew I wanted to build my career in the South West, and Goughs really stood out to me,” she said. “Everyone has been incredibly welcoming since I joined, and I’m looking forward to experiencing different areas of law and learning from such knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.”

Mia completed her LLB at the University of the West of England and has joined the housebuilding and development team at the Greenways office.

“I first came across Goughs at a university event and was really struck by how friendly and approachable everyone was,” she said.

“I am really excited to be starting my training contract here, and particularly look forward to building relationships with clients, developing my confidence and gaining the experience I need to become a Family solicitor.”

Before starting their legal training, the four recruits will spend four weeks with Goughs’ marketing and accounts teams to gain a broader understanding of the firm’s operations and develop their commercial awareness.

Goughs has seven offices across Wiltshire and more than 130 staff.
