Energy crisis is key focus of National Self Build & Renovation Centre show
Helping homeowners to tackle the energy crisis will be a key focus of the National Self Build & Renovation Centre‘s annual autumn show in Swindon next week.
National Self Build & Renovation Centre Show is billed as a must-visit event for people planning to build and renovate their home.
But with spiralling heating costs on the horizon, professional advice about insulating homes and generating power has been in demand like never before.
Experts in heat and energy will take centre stage at the Show, which takes place on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September. Home insulation, air source heat pumps, solar panels, and electric vehicle charging will all be on the agenda during the sessions, which take place at 10am and 3pm each day.
A heat and energy workshop in August broke attendance records for the centre, with 357 people attending a single session.
Harvey Fremlin, the NSBRC’s managing director, said: “We are all affected by rising energy costs and we want to do our bit to help people by providing free educational events.
“What is encouraging is that so many people want to take personal responsibility for reducing their own energy consumption and future-proofing their homes.
“In a survey, we produced last month 41 per cent of self-builders said they are planning more energy saving measures due to the cost of living crisis.
“We can help by displaying the options available, while highlighting the pros and cons of each in an unbiased and impartial way.”
The Show will also explore funding a building project and obtaining planning permission or renovation, with particular emphases on working in sensitive landscapes or on heritage buildings.
Tickets for the show are free if booked in advance, or £12 on the door. For more information or to book a place visit https://www.nsbrc.co.uk/whats-on/our-events/the-national-self-build-and-renovation-show/
