Joint agents for Castle Place shopping centre bring units to market
The joint agents for Castle Place shopping centre in Trowbridge are preparing to attract new tenants to the 19-unit building.
New owner Tahir Ali bought the 1970s shopping centre at auction at a knock-down £534,000 back in March, after a previous £1.2 million auction sale in 2023 failed to complete.
Specialist property managers Brockhurst Property Management and agents Alder King have been brought on board to market the units, which include a former Wilko unit and a former Wetherspoons pub.
The 70,469 sq ft covered shopping centre is located next to the historic Trowbridge Town Hall arts centre, which is currently undergoing a major £8.5 million refurbishment, and offers retail, leisure and creative spaces over two floors, as well as office accommodation, an indoor market and free parking.
“When I was first looking at purchasing Castle Place, I initially spoke to Kez Garner of the Trowbridge Chamber who recommended I speak to Stephen Brickell at Brockhurst Property Management,” said Tahir.
“Stephen and I have been working hard in the background on the management side to be able to bring Castle Place to the market on competitive and affordable commercial terms for new occupiers.
“I also wanted to bring a regional dimension to our marketing and Stephen suggested we bring on board James Gregory of Alder King, and here we are now launching the properties to the market.”
A new logo, signage and sales brochure have been produced, lighting upgraded, a new website will be launched on June 1, and letting terms are competitive for the current market.
Brockhurst and Alder King are already in talks with several national operators, which have expressed an interest in taking over the former Wilko unit, as well as food and drink operators interested in the former Wetherspoons.
The existing and long-standing tenants continue to be open for business on the lower ground floor, including the popular Castle Place butcher, mobile phone shop, hairdresser, beautician, tailor, barber and Turkish restaurant Beytish Kitchen.
James said: “Castle Place offers a range of units for retailers at a time when there is a shortage of commercial spaces available within Trowbridge town centre.
“We are offering our units on competitive terms with the attractive and significant added benefit of free parking in the adjoining multi-storey car park.”
Stephen added: “We are talking to a number of businesses who are interested in taking space at Castle Place, from creative start-ups, to bakers, florists and large national retailers.
“As the lower ground floor backs directly onto Trowbridge Town Park, with access to the park’s facilities, the Centre offers an exciting opportunity for leisure and commercial activities.
“Our aim is to transform Castle Place into a destination for businesses, residents and visitors to Wiltshire’s county town, and for our client and the community – a sustainable business asset.”
