Tech recycling scheme Wiltshire Digital Drive receives £135,000 in National Lottery funding
Tech recycling scheme Wiltshire Digital Drive has been awarded £135,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.
The non-profit organisation, established in October 2020, exists to recycle, refurbish and redistribute second-hand laptops to reduce the digital divide in the county.
The funding will be used to recruit a corporate fundraiser on a three-year fixed-term contract and will ensure the next stage of the organisation’s growth and sustainability.
Natalie Sherman, co-director of Wiltshire Digital Drive, said: “To date we have saved over six tonnes of waste from going to landfill and helped over 1,300 people to get connected by providing them with their own laptop, free of charge.
“But there’s so much more to do. Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can really begin to accelerate our impact in Wiltshire. This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”
