Wiltshire Digital Drive hires former Doorway CEO

Wiltshire Digital Drive, the not-for-profit set up during lockdown to recycle and redistribute second-hand laptops, has hired the former chief executive of homelessness charity Doorway as development manager as it embarks on its next stage of growth.

Working alongside Wiltshire Digital Drive’s co-director Natalie Sherman (right), Lisa Lewis (left) will be focused on the company’s sustainability and growth, as well as ways to increase its impact locally.

Lisa said: “I discovered the work of Wiltshire Digital Drive through my trustee role at Wiltshire Community Foundation. It was during the pandemic and I have to say I was massively impressed.

“They were the first organisation I’d come across who were tackling the digital divide head-on, in a way that was delivering serious social-economic value – with no paid staff or official volunteers.

“I have the utmost respect for Natalie and the work she and Kieran (Thomas – co-director) have done to date to ensure over 1,700 individuals have access to tech.

“When I saw the opportunity, I had to apply.”

Thanks to a successful funding application from The National Lottery, WDD has been given a vital cash injection to push forward their circular economy model; reducing the amount of waste going to landfill and increasing the life span of old tech.

“I’m entirely grateful to The National Lottery for supporting our organisation,” Natalie said.

“We know there’s so much more we can do and we’ve always wanted to do it…but with both Kieran and I running other businesses, we’ve been unable to scale in ways that we know are possible.

“Welcoming Lisa is a huge step towards achieving those aspirations. She has so much experience and I’m glad our paths crossed when they did. I know we’re going to work well together and achieve big things.”
