Persimmon Homes makes larger donations available to community groups through charitable scheme

Housebuilder Persimmon Homes has announced changes to Community Champions, the company’s charitable scheme which has given over £1.5 million in the last two years alone to over 5,000 charities, sports clubs and local organisations in Britain.

Through the scheme, Persimmon Homes’ four regional businesses across the South West has previously provided grants of £1,000 to a range of worthy cause throughout the year.

The company has announced that it will be providing grants of up to £6,000 to community groups and charities every three months, at least £24,000 per year, which will be delivered through its businesses in the region; Persimmon Wessex, Severn Valley, South West and Cornwall and West Devon.

Previous beneficiaries of Community Champions donations include organisations such as Devon Air Ambulance, Moreton-in-Marsh CC, Mamas Bristol (pictured) and North Petherton RFC.

Liam Scott, regional chairman for Persimmon Homes in Wales and the South West, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have helped numerous charities, local community groups and sports clubs across the South West because we know what valuable work they do.

“These organisations are increasingly being asked to do even more or help more and more people. We want to ensure that work can continue and this is why we are increasing the amount of money available from £1,000 to £6,000.

“Persimmon is committed to leaving a positive lasting legacy in the communities in which we work, and as well as building good quality homes and creating well-paid high-skilled jobs, we know that Community Champions helps those organisations who are the lifeblood of our communities across the South West.

“We know our donations make a real difference and we’d strongly encourage any local charity in need of support to apply to Community Champions to see if we can help.”

Persimmon has confirmed that the new £6,000 donation is immediately available but that organisations will still be able to apply for smaller donations in accordance with their needs.
