Two new directors appointed at Albert Goodman
South West accountancy firm Albert Goodman has welcomed two new directors, with Abi Kingsbury and Mark Thompson joining the business.
A chartered accountant and tax advisor, Abi Kingsbury, who arrives at Albert Goodman after eight years with one of the ten largest accountancy firms in the UK , joins as a director in the firm’s farms and estates team at a time when inheritance tax increases and succession planning are high on the agenda for many rural businesses across the country.
Also a chartered accountant and tax advisor, Mark Thompson joins as a director from operating in Albert Goodman’s business services team.
Having previously worked as an advisor across a variety of sectors, Mark has since specialised in supporting property and construction businesses, from family-owned companies through to large joint ventures and group structures.
“This year is certainly a busy time to be joining the Albert Goodman’s farms and estates team, as we look to help our clients navigate unprecedented levels of uncertainty,” said Abi.
“I’m looking forward to playing my part and utilising my experience as I get to know all of the fantastic businesses we help to support.”
The firm has been vocal on the government’s current plans to raise inheritance tax for farmers and agricultural businesses, with Albert Goodman Partner Sam Kirkham leading a new report from the Rural Accountancy Group, urging the Chancellor to adjust the proposals.
Mark added: “Albert Goodman has a fantastic reputation as one of the leading accountancy firms in the region. I’m excited to join the business services team at this stage of my career, and I look forward to contributing to the future success of the organisation.”
The new partners join Albert Goodman at a time of significant growth. The firm reported an annual turnover of £21.4 million last year – up 17 per cent on the year before.
Iain McVicar, managing partner at Albert Goodman said: “I’m pleased to welcome Abi and Mark to Albert Goodman and the Taunton team.
“Both were stand-out candidates who will bring a huge amount of experience, insights and fresh thinking to the farms & estates and business services teams. We’re delighted to have them onboard as we continue to build on the momentum of a very successful 2024.”
Albert Goodman, which has offices in Bristol and is headquartered in Taunton, has been helping businesses across the South West for over 150 years.
