Law firm Thrings has made two new partner appointments in its commercial property team.

Jess McHugh and Mary Waters, who join the firm from Foot Anstey and DAC Beachcroft respectively, are the latest additions to the firm’s Chambers and Legal 500 ranked team, bringing with them more than four decades of combined legal experience.

Jess, who will be based in Thrings’ Ross-on-Wye office, will be acting for a broad range of commercial clients across Herefordshire, Wales and the South West on the full spectrum of commercial property transactions.

This includes all aspects of landlord and tenant work, general estate management and the sale and acquisition of land and buildings.

She will also be utilising her specialist expertise on transport and infrastructure projects – ranging from road and rail to clean energy projects such as energy and water – to advise clients on achieving the most out of their projects.

Meanwhile, residential development specialist Mary joins the Bristol office, and will be working closely within Thrings’ Development of Land specialism to support residential developer clients to achieve their objectives.

As well as an extensive background in acting for housebuilders, Mary’s real estate experience includes acting for national public sector bodies, as well as in property finance, landlord and tenant and general acquisition and development work.

The arrival of Jess and Mary mean five new partners have been appointed to the team in the past two years, showcasing the firm’s ongoing commitment to retaining outstanding legal expertise that ensures growth and success for its clients.

Jess said: “I’m excited to be joining Thrings – a firm that clearly demonstrates a clear long-term plan for growth and a strong commitment to its clients. I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with the team and getting to know our clients, understanding their businesses and their long-term ambitions to help them realise their commercial goals.”

Mary added: “The firm’s Development of Land sector has a well-deserved reputation for excellence within the property world, representing some of the region’s biggest developers and it is great to be joining the team and helping contribute to their continued success.”

Simon Holdsworth, Thrings managing partner, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Jess and Mary to the firm as we continue to target growth within the real estate market and strengthen our presence with fresh expertise

“Their mix of commercial and residential property knowledge and experience on infrastructure delivery will help us as we continue to provide a holistic service and invaluable legal advice to our clients, whatever their legal issues might be.”
