Law firm celebrates homegrown talent in latest round of promotions

Regional law firm Thrings is continuing to develop its talent from within with almost all of the 14 lawyers advancing through the latest round of promotions, having joined the firm at the start of their legal careers.

Spanning multiple practice areas, the promotions highlight Thrings’ ability to develop talent and support long-term progression, with half of the lawyers taking on new roles having trained through the Thrings Academy initiative, and six of the remaining seven having joined the firm shortly after qualification.

Two new partners have been appointed this year, with Emma Page stepping up to the partnership in Thrings’ residential property team in Bath, and Josephine Taylor becoming the newest partner in the firm’s renowned agriculture team, based in the Romsey office.

Both have been promoted from senior associate level, having joined Thrings shortly after qualification and have since gone on to build outstanding reputations as go-to advisers in their fields.

Alongside the partners, the firm has promoted two senior associates in the Bristol office – Joe Watkins in the corporate team and Richie Rees in the agriculture litigation team – to legal director status.

Both trained at the firm prior to qualification and will be continuing their dedicated work to develop the next generation of lawyers in their departments in their new roles alongside delivering continued success for their clients.

Six senior associates have been appointed in the latest round of promotions, with four in Bristol – Zhenja Cann in the family team, Pratibha Mistry in the residential property team, Rebecca Stanton in planning and environment, and Matt Cornforth in corporate.

Meanwhile, Conor Melvin, also in corporate, and Carey Willis-Fleming in employment, are both elevated to senior associate status in the Swindon office.

The next generation of Thrings talent has also been recognised in the promotions, with four colleagues in Bristol, Bath and Swindon being made associates. This includes former Thrings trainees Sam Longmore, in the firm’s Bath-based private client team, and Victoria Tallis in the family team in Swindon.

They are accompanied in the new title by Josh Gladwin in the property litigation team and Zoe Collins in the real estate team, based in Bristol and Swindon respectively.

Simon Holdsworth, managing partner at Thrings, said: “It is particularly rewarding that so many of our newly promoted lawyers have been with Thrings since the very start of their careers.

“These are individuals who have grown with us, developed their expertise here, and are now stepping into new responsibilities with the same commitment to clients that first brought them into the profession.

“Their success is our success, and I am delighted to celebrate this next big moment in their legal journeys.”
