Juliet Davenport to step down from Good Energy board

Good Energy founder and former CEO Juliet Davenport has announced she will not stand for re-election at the Chippenham group’s AGM.
After 22 years of leadership with the company she founded in 1999, and just over a year as a non-executive Director having stepped down as CEO in April 2021, she announced she had chosen not to stand in order to allow for the continued expansion of her portfolio career in the energy industry.

Having founded Good Energy, one of the UK’s first 100 per cent renewable electricity suppliers and the company that created the blueprint for home-based solar power generation in the UK, Juliet is widely acknowledged as a pioneer in the renewable industry.

Juliet is the host of the Great Green Questions podcast and soon to be author of The Green Start-Up, publishing in October 2022.

The book will draw heavily on her experience running a renewable electricity business for two decades, as well as interview material from a wide range of experts and entrepreneurs.

She currently holds a string of high profile roles with the Energy Institute, Crown Estate, Ombudsman Services, Connected Kerb and Atrato Onsite Energy among others.

“When renewables were not considered worthy of serious consideration by investors and made up less than two per cent of the power we used as a country, she understood that ordinary energy customers wanted to help tackle climate change.

“She was one of the first to pave a path which the rest of the industry has followed. We thank her deeply for her contribution and look forward to seeing her continue to inspire and lead the way towards a cleaner, greener future.”

Juliet said: “I will always cherish Good Energy — its people, customers and investors.

“We built something together that remains truly different and have shown that renewables are to be reckoned with.

“The past year has been an extremely turbulent one in energy, but it has been heartening to see the business navigate the crisis well whilst continuing to build on its mission and strategy under Nigel’s leadership.

“I believe it has a promising future, continuing to help drive the energy transition.”
