Good Energy to host sustainability event for local businesses
Chippenham-based renewable energy supplier Good Energy is to host an event for local businesses that want to cut their carbon emissions.
Run in partnership with Chippenham Town Council and Severn Wye Energy Agency, the event will be held at the Monkton Park headquarters of the firm on Tuesday, March 4.
Short talks from various speakers will include how businesses can reduce their impact on the environment and what steps they can take to become more energy efficient, cut costs and reduce carbon emissions, offering both ‘quick wins’ and longer-term solutions.
Good Energy will share its own experiences of working towards net zero, including its recent achievement with B Corp certification.
This will be followed by a Q&A session and networking.
Sustainability and facilities manager Cherish Jackson said: “This will be the first time we’ve opened our office to host such an event, and we hope it will be a big success.
“We all have a part to play in tackling the climate emergency – as individuals and as businesses – so it’s vitally important that we all work together to reduce our impact on the planet.”
Chippenham Town Council’s Climate and Biodiversity Officer Cate Watson said: “We are committed to becoming a net zero organisation by 2030 and we want to help our town reduce its emissions too.
“This is our first event aimed at supporting local businesses to become more sustainable, and we are delighted to be partnering with Good Energy and Severn Wye Energy Agency to offer an evening of talks that will help companies to save money and take positive actions for the environment.”
Severn Wye’s project lead Georgina Saunders said: “We understand the issues businesses face when trying to be more sustainable and keep costs down – there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
“Different sectors have different opportunities and we’re looking forward to helping all local businesses along their low-carbon journey.”
The event is free and runs between 5.30pm and 7.15pm. Tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/chippenham-sustainable-business-event-tickets-1111337302789
