Wiltshire defence firm lands $10 million gas mask order
Wiltshire defence firm Avon Technologies has won a $10 million order to supply respirators to a European NATO ally.
The $10.8 million order was placed with the firm’s chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear protection division under the NATO Support & Procurement Agency framework contract.
Avon Technologies currently supplies half of the 32 NATO members with protection equipment.
The company said the new order would “support the ongoing modernisation of protective capability for military personnel and includes FM50 twin-filter Air Purifying Respirators (APR), FM61EU filters, and accessories.”
The FM50 is a twin-filter full-face respirator designed to NATO military requirements, providing lower breathing resistance and improved wearer comfort to maximise time in the field.
The system enables continuous respiratory protection in hazardous environments, supporting operational effectiveness across a range of mission scenarios.
CEO Jos Sclater said: “This new order highlights Avon Protection’s long-standing position as a trusted supplier to NATO and allied forces, delivering equipment designed to support both protection and operational effectiveness.
“Avon Protection supplies respiratory systems to 16 NATO nations under the NSPA framework, reflecting the increasing focus on modernising CBRN capability across the alliance.
“The NSPA framework provides a strong platform for repeatable demand as customers upgrade and standardise their equipment.”
