Stars of Christmas TV hit to feature in summer sculpture trail

Animated legends Wallace & Gromit, along with arch nemesis Feathers McGraw and newcomer Norbot the ‘smart gnome’ will feature in a charity sculpture trail around Bristol this summer.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was a TV hit this Christmas – the second most-watched show of the festive period with an estimated audience of 16.3 million, 9.4 million of whom watched the movie live on Christmas Day, behind Gavin & Stacey, which chalked up 19.1 million viewers.

Created by Bristol-based animation studio Aardman, Vengeance Most Fowl featured Wallace & Gromit in their sixth movie, and the first since 2008’s A Matter of Loaf and Death.

It featured the return of the villainous penguin Feathers McGraw from The Wrong Trousers (1993), who takes revenge on Wallace and Gromit by reprogramming their robotic garden gnome, Norbot.

All four characters will appear as sculptures in The Grand Appeal’s upcoming trail to support Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Gromit Unleashed 3 will run from June 30 to August 31 in locations around the city. The trail will culminate in an exhibition – with all the sculptures in one place – followed by an auction of the sculptures. Gromit Unleashed 2, held in 2018, raised £2.3 million.
