Swindon sets up its own film office

Swindon has established its own film office, hoping to grab a slice of the multi-million pound pie enjoyed by cities across the South West.

Screen Swindon will act as a conduit between movie and television production companies and locations – including historic houses, modern offices, the town’s industrial heritage, and its rural hinterlands.

The film office can also find local on- and off-screen talent. And filming in Swindon could cost production companies a fraction of what they would spend in London, or even in Bristol or Bath.

Film and TV production boosted Bristol’s economy by nearly £50 million last year.

The Create Studios initiative is backed by Creative England and Swindon Borough Council.
