Twisted lamp posts and telephone box join knotted pillar box outside Bristol offices

A traditional British post box tied in a knot has been joined by a twisted red telephone box and a pair of lamp posts tied in a bow.

The artworks – by the artist Alex Chinneck – have been installed outside the new BT Assembly building, next to the Temple Way Bridge in Bristol.

The first sculpture appeared in April and coincided with the opening of Cheese Lane, the first time in 50 years that the lane has been open as a public right of way.

The life-sized pieces have been designed to enhance the new and improved pedestrian links between the city centre and Temple Meads Station provided by the Assembly development.

Of the telephone box, the artist said: “Wring Ring is perhaps the most challenging sculpture that I’ve ever produced. Half a tonne of very complex bronze and a glazing system that took two years to refine.”
