Portico Designs opens new office in Bath’s Kingsmead Square

A Bath-based publisher of designer cards, gifts, calendars and stationery has taken new offices in Bath’s Kingsmead Square.

Established more than 30 years ago, Portico Designs provides both its own in-house designs as well as world-class licensed brands on its signature range of stationery, gifts and more.

Its new offices are in a Grade II listed Georgian terrace that looks out across Kingsmead Square and was once the Mayor of Bath’s home.

“We’re pleased to have moved into Kingsmead Square,’ said Simon Harrison, managing director of Portico Designs.

“Being together in the office strengthens our ability to collaborate, ensuring we continue to develop fresh ideas and high-quality products for our customers.”

Lindsay Holdoway, managing director of Bath-based property company HPH, which owns and operates the building, said: “It’s great to welcome Portico to Kingsmead Square.

“This location is right in the heart of Bath in an area that has hotels, cafes and shops of all kinds and is still only a short walk to the railway station.

“It’s a major selling point for staff to work somewhere with a buzz, with life going on just outside the office door.”

HPH says Portico’s move is further evidence of a notable shift in sentiment as businesses encourage staff to spend more time in the office.

“There’s no doubt things are steadily changing, said Lindsay.

“We’ve had a fantastic start to 2025, with office take-up increasing markedly.

“For many employers, it’s about reigniting the energy that comes from collaboration.

“Employers are having to consider the quality of their workspace to ensure their colleagues feel relaxed but engaged.

“For many businesses, hybrid working is still possible, but with a much greater emphasis on time together in the office.”
