Bayer’s former Newbury base comes to market
The former Newbury offices of pharmaceutical giant Bayer – which are partway to being converted into 191 apartments – have come to the market with property agent Sanderson Weatherall.
The town centre site is one of three conversion projects being sold on behalf of administrators, along with Globe Works in Bolton, and Cuthbert House in Newcastle.
Bayer House provides 191 studio, one and two bed unit types and multi-storey car parking for 200 cars.
The three-storey, 100 sq ft building at Strawberry Hill was home to Bayer for 32 years until 2015, when the firm – which invented Aspirin – moved 470 staff to Green Park in Reading.
Developers were given permission to convert the office block for residential use in 2018.
Neil Bestwick, partner in Sanderson Weatherall’s restructuring and recovery team said: “We expect there to be considerable interest in these developments which are in the main well advanced in terms of the conversion works undertaken.
“Once complete, each building offers great investment and owner occupier potential, with all three properties being in excellent locations, close to local amenities and key transport infrastructure.”
Developers are being invited to submit offers before July 12.
