Star of track and screen Kriss Akabusi to host Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Awards
Elite athlete turned television personality Kriss Akabusi has been confirmed as the host of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, at which the best businesses in the region will be recognised.
Kriss became a household name in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His gold-medal win at the 1990 European Championships saw him beat David Hemery’s 22-year British record for the 400 metre hurdles.
In 1992 he was awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to the country through athletics. Since retiring from athletics, he has worked as a television presenter and motivational speaker.
Paul Britton, CEO at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Chamber Awards celebrate the achievements and hard work of local businesses large and small.
“During these challenging economic times the Awards provide energy, profile and confidence to all involved. We are always excited to have the opportunity to make this happen, it is a huge boost for our members and the Chamber team.
“We are delighted that Kriss will be the host of the 2025 Awards, and no doubt his energetic personality will only add to the enjoyment of the evening. We look forward to welcoming him on the 2nd July. It promises to be another great occasion.”
