Thames Valley business leaders to get experts’ take on Autumn Budget

Businesses across the Thames Valley are being invited to assess the implications of the Government’s Autumn Budget at a breakfast briefing in Swindon.

The event, organised by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with accountancy firm Monahans, will take place at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre on Friday, October 30.

The Budget Briefing for Growth: Setting the Economic Agenda, the session will bring together business leaders and tax advisers to examine the practical impact of the Chancellor’s announcements.

The briefing will focus on taxation and business finance, employment and workforce issues, investment and growth incentives, business confidence and the wider economic outlook.

Dominic Bourquin, tax partner at Monahans, said the Budget would be an important moment for businesses, but understanding its practical consequences would be equally significant.

“This event is an opportunity for businesses of all sizes to consider the implications and identify the areas that businesses should be thinking about as they plan for the year ahead,” he said.

Stephanie Hurst, tax director at Monahans, said companies would be watching issues including taxation, business costs, investment, recruitment and the prospects for economic growth.

“We want the session to be practical and useful, helping businesses understand not just what the Budget means, but how they can respond to the opportunities and challenges that may emerge,” she said.

Dominic and Stephanie will be joined by Steph Parker, Monahans’ new private client partner.

She advises high-net-worth individuals, families and entrepreneurs on complex tax and succession-planning matters.

Tim Major, senior account manager at the Chamber, said the briefing would be particularly relevant given the economic uncertainty facing businesses.

“Bringing businesses together to hear from experienced advisers and discuss the issues affecting them is a valuable part of the Chamber’s role,” he said.

The event will start with networking and refreshments, followed by an introduction from Major and a briefing from the Monahans team. Attendees will also have the opportunity to put questions directly to the speakers during an interactive discussion.

The session will run from 9.30am to 11.30am at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre, Lydiard Fields, Swindon.
