Julia’s House and Wansbroughs seek businesses with vans for tree-mendously important mission
Julia’s House children’s hospice and Wiltshire law firm Wansbroughs are seeking ‘Christmas elves’ to help with the local charity’s popular tree collection service in January.
Once the festive season is over, Julia’s House will be collecting and recycling real Christmas trees from homes across the county and will need lots of vans and helping hands to make the tree-mendous mission possible.
Julia’s House fundraiser, Claudia Hickin, said, “Last year we collected more than 630 Christmas trees from local homes across Wiltshire and Dorset and raised around £7,000. We’re hoping we can do even better this time!
“If you have a day or even a few hours to spare on January 11, 12, or 13, we’d love to hear from you.”
She added, “We are especially looking for local businesses or individuals with vans, as we’ll need help transporting the trees to our recycling hub in Wiltshire.
“There’s always a great camaraderie among our collection teams, and it’s nice to know that at the same time you will be making a difference to local families.”
Volunteers will be helping to load trees on and off the vans, so need to be physically fit and able. Once collected from local homes, the trees will be taken to the Old Potato Yard just outside Devizes to be recycled as chippings for use on local farms and community spaces.
Julia’s House will be collecting trees from doorsteps in Devizes, Pewsey, Marlborough and other surrounding villages, for a suggested minimum donation of £10. Bookings are now open at juliashouse.org/collection.
All funds raised from the Christmas tree collection will help Julia’s House continue its lifeline of care for the most seriously ill children and their families in the local community.
The promotion of this year’s Julia’s House Christmas tree collection is sponsored by Wansboroughs.
Established in 1882, Wansbroughs is one of the leading law firms in central Wiltshire, offering a wide range of legal services to both individuals and businesses.
