Intel confirmed as lead sponsor of Platform Project fashion show

Electronics components manufacturer Intel has been confirmed as the lead sponsor of a fashion show for Swindon charity The Platform Project.

The tech firm, which has its UK headquarters in Swindon, is continuing its long association with the charity with its sponsorship of the event at MECA Swindon on September 23.

Darren Howell, Intel’s community engagement manager, said: “Intel are proud to be supporting the Platform Project by sponsoring the upcoming Black Tie Fashion Show Fundraiser.

“The services provided by them in which to help develop confidence and employability skills within young people is vitally important. We’re looking forward to working alongside Sadie and her team on this event.”

Working closely with schools, colleges and universities both locally and internationally, The Platform Project provides bespoke enterprise and employability-based workshops, training, and development programmes.

With a proven track record of engaging, motivating, and progressing young people, The Platform Project has an 89 per cent success rate of the young people they work with going on to higher education, self-employment or paid work.

The upcoming Fashion Show is a chance for the young people to really showcase their skills at driving and executing a project with the help of the Platform’s team and several local business people who have volunteered their time to help.

The Platform Project’s founder, Sadie Sharp, said: “We’re so pleased that Intel are on board with us as main sponsors and I would like to say a huge thank you to them for supporting us.

“As a non-profit with a tiny team, its not always easy to pull something like this off! Having the support from one of Swindon’s largest companies means we can go ahead with the show and bring the community together to help support our young people in the town.

“The work we do is so important to them because we offer them a safe and confidence building space to help them achieve what they want out of life.”
