Charity golf day raises £48k for charities

Fleet management firm Holman has raised nearly £48,000 through its annual Charity Golf Day.

The Chippenham-based firm hosted the event at Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Wiltshire, bringing together more than 80 colleagues, customers and supply chain partners to raise £47,880.

Backed by sponsors including MIS Conversions, Geotab, Enterprise Mobility and Manheim Cox Automotive, the total surpassed last year’s £40,500 haul and marks the highest figure achieved to date.

Proceeds will be channelled through United Way to support grassroots projects focused on literacy and education, particularly in schools serving disadvantaged communities.

Initiatives funded include the development of ‘Reading Oasis’ spaces, transforming unused areas into dedicated reading environments equipped with books, furnishings and learning resources. In one example, more than 1,000 books were donated and every pupil received a book to take home.

The golf day forms part of Holman’s wider global community strategy, which has seen the business raise more than $1.4 million for over 700 charities in the past year alone.

Nick Hay, managing director of Holman UK, said: “In my first weeks at Holman, I’ve already seen how strongly our values are reflected in the way we support our communities.

“The success of this event is a great example of what that looks like in action, and truly highlights how deeply embedded community support is within Holman’s culture.”

Jane Hudson Jones, CEO at United Way, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Holman and all those who took part in making this year’s Golf Day such a success.

“Raising £47,880 is an outstanding achievement and will make a real difference to the communities we serve, helping us deliver vital local support as well as creating more school libraries through our Reading Oasis programme. This is a great example of what can be achieved when businesses come together with a shared commitment to strengthening local communities.”
