Lawyer named president of Calne Chamber

Calne Chamber of Commerce has appointed lawyer Nicholas Sewell as its president for the next two years.

Nick, a partner at Bevirs, took up his new role at the Chamber’s annual general meeting last week. He has been a member of the Chamber for 15 years.

“I am really looking forward to the challenge of leading the Chamber and its members in what is still a potentially difficult business environment,” said Nick, who lives in Marlborough.

“However, the Calne Chamber has a strong committee and with their assistance we aim to support the business community in the town to give all our members the best chance of continued success and growth.”

Nick (50) has been a partner at Bevirs for 13 years and is head of private client services including wills, probate, trusts and issues around elderly people. He joined Bevirs in 2000.

In other professional roles, he is a former chair of the Gloucestershire & Wiltshire branch of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners). This is a global organisation which sets best practice standards for international legal practitioners in this area of law.

In Wiltshire, he’s a member of Calne Referral Link and is active in public speaking roles, especially to charitable organisations about the legal implications of managing the well-being and financial affairs of vulnerable people.
