Science Museum appoints new director for Science and Innovation Park near Swindon
The Science Museum Group has appointed a new director of its Science and Innovation Park near Swindon.
Matt Moore, who joined the Science Museum 25 years ago as an Explainer, will lead the operational, commercial and access teams at the Wiltshire facility from November 1.
The Science and Innovation Park is a 545-acre former RAF airfield near Swindon that contains native woodlands, extensive runways and hangars, one of the UK’s largest solar farms, and the publicly accessible Hawking Building – home to much of the Science Museum Group Collection, which opened in October 2024 for guided public tours, school and research visits.
Matt has a keen interest in sustainable development and has championed the delivery of a 50MW solar farm, an award-winning Hemcrete museum store, and the planting over 48,000 trees.
Matt was previously an outdoor pursuits instructor, working on the Jurassic coast. He maintains a connection with the natural environment as a trustee for the Marlborough Downs Space for Nature programme, and with the Mass Extinction Monitoring Observatory project on the Isle of Portland.
