Sports therapists raise £1,500 after climbing highest peaks

Practitioners from Chippenham sports clinic Active Potential Therapy have raised over £1,500 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance appeal after completing the Three Peaks Challenge at the weekend.

Setting off from Chippenham at 9am last Friday (June 3) the eight-strong team reached Fort William in Scotland and began their 10-mile assent of the 4,409 ft Ben Nevis on Saturday morning, reaching the peak at 11.20am.

It was then straight on to Scafell Pike, which they started at 7pm, walking 4.8 miles and reaching the 3,209 ft peak at 10.30pm, just as the light faded.

They then drove to Snowdon, which they began at 4.10am on Sunday morning, walking 3.53 miles to reach the peak at 3,209 ft.

The team completed the challenge in 23 hours and 53 minutes.

Samantha Cox, owner of Active Potential Therapy said: “In October 2015 we competed in the local Monster Race, a 6.5km muddy obstacle course, raising just over £1,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

“I felt we needed to raise the bar, and find a new challenge that would push boundaries. The National Three Peaks was definitely that challenge with its unique elements of mental and physical endurance, tolerance of heights, and teamwork required to succeed.

“As a company which supports fitness and wellbeing, it seemed appropriate that we do something like this.”
