Charity Trowbridge Future welcomes accountant to board
Charity Trowbridge Future has welcomed qualified accountant Rob James to its board of trustees.
Rob is finance controller at leading school and sportswear provider Banner.
He has worked in a range of industries for over 20 years, now overseeing accounting operations at Banner and compliance with financial regulation.
“I’ve lived in Trowbridge all my life and I’m really thrilled to get involved with a local, home grown organization with a strong community focus, and such a dedicated team of staff and volunteers,” said Rob.
Banner has supported the charity over the past year by donating branded uniform for its staff and volunteers, and giving Christmas hampers full of festive treats to over 80 users of the charity’s three community fridges at Longfield, Seymour and Studley Green.
“I’m delighted to welcome Rob to our board of trustees,” said chairman of trustees, Jo Trigg.
“His financial skills, local knowledge and passionate commitment will all be very valuable assets to Trowbridge Future. He joins a team of dedicated and talented professionals committed to delivering significant support to our communities.
“Our staff team has been nothing short of amazing during the two years of the pandemic.
“Funding from the National Lottery has enabled us to expand our community services and strengthen our work with local organisations, at a time when many charities have been forced to reduce their services.
“We are looking forward to building a robust and sustainable future that meets the needs of the community.”
Trowbridge Future is a small, independent charity offering support and advice to the local community. It was set up in 1995 with a vision to give a voice to socially and economically disadvantaged communities in the town, helping people to come together to make positive changes to where they live.
Areas of Trowbridge are among the 10 per cent most deprived in the country and many people feel isolated and forgotten. Trowbridge Future provides community led spaces which give people a sense of belonging, develop positive relationships with local organisations and raise self esteem and aspirations for all.
The charity runs a series of professionally led youth cafes across Trowbridge in Longfield, Seymour and Studley Green and hosts thriving Community Hubs in The Shires Shopping Centre and Seymour Estate.
The charity is governed by 11 trustees. David Whewell, former Head of Young People’s Services at Wiltshire Council and current chair of Governors of the John of Gaunt School, and Georgina Brown, equality, diversity and inclusion specialist, joined the board of trustees last year.
