Family law expert becomes senior partner of one of Wiltshire’s oldest legal firms
Law firm Bevirs has appointed Stuart McNeil as senior partner, following the retirement of former senior partner John Hunt.
Stuart (54) who is the current head of litigation at the legal practice, has worked as a solicitor in Wiltshire for more than 30 years.
Stuart is based at the Swindon office of Bevirs which also has offices in Royal Wootton Bassett and Calne.
He said: “I’m delighted to take on this role and follow in the footsteps of John Hunt. I’m one of six partners in the practice and we are all equally committed to ensuring Bevirs has a healthy future in business and continues to support the people of Wiltshire with their legal needs.”
Originally from Huddersfield , Stuart attended the College of Law in Chester, now known as the University of Law. He met his wife Claire while studying and considered moving to Bristol as Claire’s family came from the city.
Stuart said: “At the time opportunities for new solicitors in Bristol were limited and I was advised to look to Swindon which was expanding rapidly. I applied for a position at Bevirs, one of the area’s oldest legal practices with a history dating back more than 100 years.
Having joined the firm, Stuart spent two years as a trainee solicitor before becoming a general litigation solicitor. Gradually he began to specialise in the areas of family, probate disputes and employment law.
