Not-for-profit businesses to hold first annual conference
An association of not-for-profit businesses will hold its inaugural conference in Swindon next month.
Swindon Social Enterprise Network is a community voluntary organisation that seeks to assist new and existing social enterprises, help charities to monetarise, and help private companies assess their social and environmental impact.
The conference – PROFIT: Putting People and the Environment First – is a day-long event being held at Swindon’s Link Centre.
The opening key-note presentation will be given by Keith Carby founder of St James’s Place who will be talking about Building a Highly Successful Business on Social Foundations.
Natalia Fernandez from The Big Issue Invest will be posing the question What Difference Can Social Investment Make to Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises?, and Jane Butler from Wiltshire Community Foundation will be presenting on Understanding Your Social Impact.
Peter Bundey from Greenwich Leisure Limited, headline sponsor of the event, will give a presentation titled Growing the UK’s largest Social Enterprise.
There will also be workshops on accessing the National Lottery Community Fund, creating an income, employing people and managing volunteers, and making your governance structure work for you.
The event will also include a community fair” with up to 40 stands representing the charity and not for profit sector working in the local area. The conference will be held on Wednesday, October 23 from 9am to 4.30pm. Tickets, priced at £10, are available from www.swinconf.com
