Nationwide unveils biggest rebrand for nearly 40 years
Swindon-headquartered building society Nationwide has unveiled its biggest rebrand for 36 years.
The new look represents its biggest image overhaul since 1987 – when the average house cost just £40,882.
The new look, along with the slogan A Good Way To Bank, will be rolled out to the mortgage lender’s 605 branches and its head office in Swindon.
The rebrand will also mean apps and banking cards will be given a fresh look, although the lender won’t be refreshing chequebooks or card readers.
The new look was unveiled as Nationwide revealed it had overtaken the major banks in the size of its branch network.
Nationwide 605 branches outnumber Lloyds (598), NatWest (485), Halifax (476), Santander (443), Barclays (346) and HSBC (333).
The society’s Branch Promise, which it renewed in June, pledges not to leave any town or city in which it is based until at least 2026.
Debbie Crosbie, Nationwide CEO, said: “Nationwide provides the face-to-face service that people value and need.
“We’re the large-scale alternative to shareholder-owned banks and now we have the biggest branch network too.
“Our branches are busy and we’re an important part of local communities.”
