Nutricia team raise £600 racing to the Stones

Four staff from Trowbridge-based medical nutrition company Nutricia have raised hundreds of pounds after completing the gruelling 100km Race to the Stones challenge.

Steve Gaskell, Jamie Gavin, Sylvia Chan and Oli Dell recently took part in event along a 100km route of the Ridgeway following the Thames and Salisbury plain on the way to the finish line at the 3,000-year-old stone circle at Avebury.

They took part to support Carers UK, one of Nutricia’s charity partners. In Wiltshire alone there are believed to be more than 47,000 carers.

All four are members of Nutricia’s contracts and commercial effectiveness department.

Oli Dell, senior contract manager said: “The race started at 8.15 on the Saturday morning with us crossing the finish 28 hours later around mid day on the Sunday, having walked through very high temperatures on the Saturday afternoon and then on through the night.

“This was one of the hardest events I have completed, but gives a real sense of achievement knowing I’ve completed such a mammoth challenge. I now need to let my feet recover!”

Colleague Sylvia Chan said: “I knew the Race to the Stones would be hard. This physical, mental and emotional roller coaster of a race challenged me to my core. Crossing the finish line 28 hours later, with my team, was a monumental achievement.”

To date they’ve raised more than £600.
