Malmesbury pub The Horse & Groom voted among best in the west to grab a bite
The Horse & Groom at Charlton, near Malmesbury is celebrating after winning gold in the dining pub category at this year’s Taste of the West Hospitality and Retail Awards.
The Butcombe Brewery-owned pub – a Grade II listed former coaching inn with parts dating from the 16th century – is run by general manager David Oram.
“We are extremely pleased and proud to have been awarded this incredible accolade, especially as it’s only six months since we were able to reopen after lockdowns,” said Dave.
“The kitchen, under the leadership of Mo Farhan, is producing some wonderful and exciting food and we are looking forward to the year ahead.”
Taste of the West is the largest independent regional food group in the UK and was established to promote and support fantastic local food and drink, and those that serve them, from the region – Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Its aim is to champion food and drink producers and hospitality providers in the West Country. Its award programme has been promoting and supporting the South West food and drink industry for 30 years. It has grown to become the most prestigious food and drink awards programme in the region.
Jayson Perfect, group managing director, pubs & inns, at Liberation Group – which owns Butcombe Brewery – said: We’re delighted that our teams and their passion for great food, drink and hospitality have been recognised by Taste of the West both here at the Horse & Groom in Wiltshire and at three of our sites in Somerset.”
