Pub refurbishment creates bar fit for a king

An 18th century Melksham pub has been given a complete makeover with a nod to its grand past.

The King’s Arms in Market Place, Melksham has reopened following an extensive refurbishment inside and out by new management Butcombe Pubs & Inns.

The pub with rooms in the heart of Melksham now boasts gorgeous interiors, 13 stylish bedrooms and new menus, in one of the town’s most iconic and historic buildings.

Wood panelled walls in hues of heritage blues, plenty of greenery and Arts and Crafts-inspired wallpapers now feature alongside leather banquette seating, upholstered floral lounge chairs, tartan carpets and statement wall and pendant lighting, creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from.

Outside is a cobbled beer garden, perfect for alfresco dining and drinking.

Toni Morris-Ditty, operations manager at Butcombe Pubs & Inns said: “We’re incredibly proud of the new look King’s Arms and we’re delighted to be able to welcome visitors old and new once again.

“It’s quite a transformation and we’re sure our guests will enjoy the changes we’ve made to the décor and our fresh new award-winning food and drink offering.”

The menu focuses on locally sourced produce, seasonal ingredients and elevated hearty pub classics. The menus and daily specials also feature Butcombe ales where possible – such as Butcombe Gold beer-battered fish and chips. Behind the bar is a great selection of wine and cocktails, alongside a wide range of craft beer, real ale and cider from Butcombe’s award-winning brewery.

The King’s Arms is dog-friendly, family-friendly and happy to cater for both large and small groups. There are two private dining rooms ideal for weddings, meetings and parties.

Hospitality group Butcombe has completed a significant refinancing deal supported by NatWest.
