Lord Lieutenant presents Tower Cold Chain with Queen’s Award

Tower Cold Chain, the cold storage company which developed reusable containers that could be used to distribute Covid-19 vaccines across the globe at temperatures of minus 60°C – has been presented with its Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Since announcing the award win earlier this year, the Theale-based company has further expanded the reach of its pharmaceutical temperature-controlled containers, with the opening of new distribution hubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, Milan, Amsterdam, Incheon, and Frankfurt.

The Lord Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire, James Puxley, presented Tower’s CEO, Niall Balfour, with the award and grant of appointment at the company’s 26,000 sq. ft premises, which features a special Innovation Centre and environmental test chambers for the qualification and development of new product ranges.

Niall Balfour thanked the team present at the ceremony telling them that the award “is a tribute to the expertise and hard work of the entire Tower team.”

“We are tremendously proud to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, which recognises our international growth and focus on meeting our customers’ global supply chain needs,” said Niall.

“We have continued to invest to drive our growth strategy, with our staff numbers increasing fivefold over the last three years.

“It is Tower’s vision to become the number-one cold chain shipping facility of choice worldwide. This award is about celebrating and marking the efforts of our global network.”
